Diabetic should stay away from eating too many sugary foods or high glycemic foods. If you must eat processed food then carefully read food labels to avoid consuming any hidden sugars. At the same time, stop eating other fast digesting, simple carbohydrates that will wreck havoc on your insulin levels. White bread should be replaced with whole grain breads.  Green leafy vegetables such as broccoli and green beans, and learn to eat leafy greens such as spinach, lettuce, parsley and kale are advisable because of the nutrients contained in them. They won’t spike up your blood sugar.

The recommended eight glasses of water every single day should be drank in a day.   Don’t drink soda pop (even diet soda) and fruit juice, with water is an easy way to reduce the amount of total calories that you are consuming on a daily basis. Sodas and juice contain sugar which can spike your blood sugar and cause diabetic complications, so drink water instead.

Although, some people will tell you that alcohol is good for you, it won’t be helpful in your case since you are diabetic.  Diabetes and alcohol simply don’t mix together.  Scientific studies have proven that alcoholic drinks contain too much sugar in them.
