Myth 1: You need to be flexible if you want to practice yoga.
You don’t have to be flexible to practice yoga. Yoga is a great exercise for those, who want to be flexible as the exercises would help you to become flexible in just a short amount of time. You don’t have to be flexible to practice it as flexibility would eventually come as you regularly practice it. Flexibility comes with regular practice, so it would be recommended to do yoga most of the time.
Myth 2: Yoga is yet another hyped-up-new-age-exercise class
Yoga is not new at all as it started around 5000 years ago. Ancient history has talked about it and says that it started in the Indus Valley. Back then, it wasn’t known as an exercise, instead, it was practice as a form of spiritual devotion and meditation to enable individuals to experience unity and oneness with the Divine.
Overtime, people realize that it is a great exercise routine. Aside from helping people to become fit and flexible, it also emphasizes the need to live a healthy, natural way of life and for you to see the good and beauty in all.
Myth 3: Yoga should not be recommended for older people since it is too hard.
The truth is that practicing yoga doesn’t come with age since you can practice it as long as you can do the poses. There are lots of styles of yoga and all of which would teach you to become flexible. Though, the styles might not be similar, the effects are just the same.
Myth 4: People, who practice yoga, are all vegetarian.
Most people, who practice yoga aren’t vegetarian at all. Like most of us, they also eat meat. But there is a belief that the food that you eat influences your energy level. They help to repair, strengthen, and protect the body from diseases.
