Bent & Straight Leg Raises
Squats (weighted) & Jump Squats (non weighted)
Each of these exercises helps in improving your lower body strength and in keeping your core strong for when you are running. Try to alternate these exercises with other exercises so that you won’t overexert your muscles in the legs. Overexerting may result to damage muscle.
Don’t forget that a healthy diet is also needed to train your body just like exercise. Your diet should be rich in nutrient and filled with healthy proteins and complex carbohydrates so that it can guarantee that the muscles build properly.
Though, we need to have a strong lower body, the upper body also need to be strengthen at the same time so it could support the burst of energy we need while running. Experts would tell you that the more physically balanced you are, the better your performance is going to be.
