Lack of exercise will not make you fat, but being overweight does make you feel weaker, as a result, you won’t have the energy to exercises.

Here, are some evidence exercise doesn’t lead to weight reduction

  1. The Mayo Clinic, a not for profit medical research establishment reports that in general, studies “have demonstrated no or modest weight loss with exercise alone”.
  2. Dr Timothy Church of the University of Louisiana, together with his team experimented with hundreds of overweight women, who were put on exercise regimes for a six month period. Some of the subjects were working out for 72 minutes each week, some for 136 minutes, and some for 194 minutes. The fourth group was told to keep their normal daily routine with no additional exercise. At the end of the study, the difference in weight loss between those who had exercised and those who hadn’t are not that much. With some of the participants even gained weight.
